The digital services company has been awarded a $49.4 million contract to upgrade the Air Force`s Integrated Personnel and Payment System (AFIPPS), which manages the payroll, leave management and basic functions for the service. AFIPPS was first developed in 2012, when the Air Force replaced the Military Personnel Data System (MilPDS) and the Defense Joint Military (Pay) System (DJMS). Accenture officials said in a statement Thursday that the company will develop “a web-compatible enterprise resource management (ERP) solution” to combine multiple compensation and personnel processes into one system. The Air Force intercepted Accenture to overhaul the human resources system, which employs more than 600,000 people. “The AFIPPS contract demonstrates the Air Force`s commitment to modernizing its business practices and strengthening support for today`s service members and their families,” said George Batsakis, Head of Defence at Accenture Federal Services. “We are honored to help the Air Force advance its innovation agenda and support HR modernization to better support the people who serve our nation.”
