Supervision Agreements Between A Clinical Supervisor
Clinical surveillance is becoming a melting pot in which consultants acquire knowledge and skills for addiction treatment and a bridge between the classroom and the clinic. Monitoring is needed in the area of addiction treatment in order to improve customer service, develop the professionalism of clinical staff and transmit and maintain ethical standards in this area. In recent years, particularly in the area of addiction, clinical control has become the cornerstone of quality improvement and assurance. If a week of consultation is observed or bugged and meets for individual monitoring, it receives 3 hours of monitoring: 1 hour of direct observation, 1 hour of individual custody and 1 hour of group control when submitting a case to the group. Over the months, with leave, leave and sick leave, it should average about 1 hour of supervision per counsellor per week. Figure 7 shows this calendar. Several authors have proposed a standardized format for monitoring documentation, including Falvey (2002b), Glenn and Serovich (1994) and Williams (1994). The decision tree described in Figure 5 (p. 16) shows how a superior can deal with a situation in which he or she is concerned about a possible ethical or legal violation by an advisor. In all surveillance models, it is useful to identify culturally or contextually-centric models or approaches and to find ways to adapt models to specific cultural and diversity factors. One of the most important administrative tasks of a supervisor is documentation and registration, especially at clinical monitoring meetings. Undoubtedly, documentation is a crucial risk management tool.
Monitoring documentation can help foster the growth and professional development of the advisor (Munson, 1993). However, proper documentation is not a priority for some organizations. If.B disciplinary action with a staff member is necessary, your organization`s lawyer or human resources department questions the paper trail or documentation of past performance issues. In the absence of appropriate documentation in the worker`s file to justify disciplinary action, it may be more difficult to implement appropriate disciplinary measures (see Falvey, 2002; Powell and Brodsky, 2004.) Clients are often the best assessors of the consultant`s skills. Supervisors should regularly obtain information on treatment outcomes from clients. The method of entry research should be discussed at the first monitoring meetings and be part of the monitoring contract. As part of a home substance abuse treatment program, you can meet regularly after meetings with clients to discuss their condition, the effectiveness of advice and the effectiveness of the therapeutic alliance with the counsellor. However, it is a fundamental premise of this TIP that you must work from a defined supervisory model and that you have a sense of purpose in your supervisory function.
